A Bit About Lanvin

One of the oldest houses in Paris, Jeanne Lanvin opened her hat shop in 1889. Parisians then came in droves to her boutique, named “Lanvin (Mademoiselle Jeanne) Modes.” After her daughter Marguerite's birth in 1897, she started designing elaborate, luxurious clothing for the little girl, which was noticed by her friends mothers, who then became customers of Jeanne. Due to this success, she opened a children’s clothing department in 1908.

In 1915, Jeanne Lanvin started showing her designs all around the globe, by 1924, Lanvin Perfumes set up shop on des Champs-Elysées and her first fragrance, released in America, was My Sin in 1925, which was an immediate success. In 1927 her legendary fragrance Arpège was released in France.

One of her daughters Marie-Blanche became president of the company after Jeanne passed away and continued to design collections until 1950. Currently, Creative Director of Lanvin is Bruno Sialelli who has brought a very personal vision and energy to the house.
