A Bit About Longchamp

French luxury leather goods house Longchamp was founded in Paris in 1948 by Jean Cassegrain, this founding family still owns the brand. The company expanded into leather goods after originally launching the world's first leather-covered (tobacco) pipes. A favourite of Elvis Presley's!

Cassegrain named his house Longchamp in homage to the famous horse race course in Paris, which has a flour mill at one end of its track, as Cassegrain means crushed grain in French.

Their first handbags came out in the early 1970’s, but their breakthrough came in the form of their lightweight, nylon fabric luggage collections. They are best known for their best-selling, foldable handbag known throughout the world as Le Pliage (Le Pliage means folding in French). The Le Pliage, has been reinvented now many times in different patterns, colors and fabrics.

Today, the company designs and manufactures handbags, shoes, accessories, and women's designer clothing. Kendall Jenner was named ambassador of Longchamp in April 2018.
